AEA Fitness Professional Certification Renewal Information

AEA Certifications expired January 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021-Certification Late Fees Waived.

You have up to one year past your expiration date to renew with no additional late fees or penalties or having to re-sit the examination.

Your expiration date will not change and your renewal period will be shortened; expiring on your same expiration date.

Expiration Date Extension

If you wish to extend and maintain the same cycle of your expiration a year later, you will be required to pay the Extended Renewal Fees and earn the appropriate number of CECs to do so; all of which depend on where you are at in your expiration cycle.

In your instance, as an example, you expired in October 2020, if you wish to expire in October of 2023, 2 ½ years from now (3 years from your original expiration), you would need to:

  1. - Have obtained or earned a minimum of 15 CECs for the initial 2-year renewal term plus 4 CECs per 6-month period to bring you to the date of one year past current cycle expiration.
  2. - Proof of current CPR/AED (does not require hand-on skill course if obtaining through online education)
  3. - Paid the Non-Member Extended Renewal Fee of $75.00 for the term (3 years instead of 2)

AEA MEMBER NOTE:  If you are a current AEA Member and wish to do the same type of extended renewal, the extended renewal fee is the same as the regular renewal fee, $55.00 (Membership is additional starting at $48.00 per year from the date of purchase).  Additionally, as a Certified Member you get all the benefits of membership including up to 8 to 10 Free AEA CECs per two year period IF you participate in the quarterly offerings that are provided to AEA Certified Members at no charge. After they expire as a free course, they are currently provided at below $10.00 per CEC course.
