Tai Chi, Ai Chi and Sports Yoga
These workshops are designed to improve balance and strength. Have you ever watched a Tai Chi Class thinking it was just too slow for you? Well, you are in for a surprise. Try these intervals mixed with Sports Yoga, Tai Chi and Ai Chi to keep your class warm and ready for more. Tai Chi is designed for martial arts as combat and self-defense. These intervals will start your class with excitement, stimulate the mind, body and soul as you release distress while adding technique, breath and mobilization through PURE STRENGTH. The natural buoyancy of the water will open up a whole new world of stability and balance without the worry of falling and causing injury. Your students may want to take it to another level and begin land classes designed for seniors, athletes and children.
Interval 1 – Tai Chi for 3 minutes of intense combinations shifting your weight promoting strength & balance.
Interval 2 – Ai Chi for 1 minute for rhythmic limbering movements to relax, breathe and prepare for Sports Yoga. Ai Chi is calming music motivating the students for more. The difference is that it is performed in the water most of the time. It integrates physical, mental and spiritual energy .
Interval 3– Sports Yoga- Have you ever tried to design your class with slow Yoga poses only to learn that the pool temperatures were not conducive to the slow, retained asanas (poses) in traditional yoga? We will combine many asanas that your students will POWER through to keep warm and improve posture with strengthening and flexibility. Strong Core when feet are off the floor!
11:30 – 12:30 – Lunch on your own. Dress for a classroom lecture if next workshop is desired. This one, you do not want to miss.

Deep Water Repositioning on the noodle for cardio, balance, core strength and decompression of the joints
Various Positions using a Noodle in a Shallow or Deep-Water Pool"
With just the use of a noodle and buoyancy/resistant cuffs on your feet. Participants can increase their agility, swiftness, and accelerate into various positions using movements that require a combination of skills. Enjoy the benefits of decompression of the spine, flexibility, strength, balance and core stabilization with the use of a noodle under their feet, behind your back, in front and riding like a bicycle. True deep water can be used but everyone has the option of staying shallow. This allows the participant to learn to take both feet off the floor of the pool, how to recover to a vertical position while realizing they can touch down at any time. Many of our students have all been involved in Water Fitness” for over 50 years plus. A lot of our participants are looking for a challenge!
Sharon will open a whole new world with Buoyancy/Resistant Leg Cuffs demonstrated for the best deep-water workout! With the use of gloves on your hands to assist in balance and improved resistance, learn how to balance yourself with a buoyant cuff on your ankle. Swim skills are required for this portion.
5:30 p.m. – Evaluations and CEC’s will be presented for each course you choose. These workshops will give you so many ideas and allow you to be ready for re-certification!
